It is essential, because in the case of the failure of the operation of the primary network, the communication will get switched towards the secondary network. Usually, there will be very small or limited information passes among the PLCs. It is because, each of the major unit is usually engaged by a local operator panel, so that the respective personnel is allowed to interact only with that unit. In general, the safety system of the oil rig is handled usually, by only one single PLC, among all the others. The platform would get monitored from the office at onshore through a satellite or radio or microwave link or communication. Most often, the onshore office operates limited control functions. The onshore office usually operates these limited controls, usually in certain instances, like bad weather, etc. There are multiple PLCs installed and operated for each of the major units on the platform. Each of these PLCs do work autonomously among the other PLCs. These PLCs usually establish the control of the system, even if the PLCs lose the communication from onshore. The Enlightenment, also known as the Age of Reason introduced a new spirit of thought and inventive analysis in 17th and 18th century Europe. Theories and ideas that had previously been accepted were now being challenged to be looked upon with an eye of reason rather than tradition. Key leaders in this movement of new thinking included Copernicus, Galileo, Locke, Franklin and Newton. Englishman, John Locke, was one of whose political works had the greatest direct impact on the revolutionary spirit in the colonies during the Enlightenment. In his essay An Essay Concerning Human Understanding, John Locke explained that humans learn only from experience. We as humans experience things with our senses and through reflection. His revolutionary view was that we are born knowing nothing at all. At birth, our minds are completely blank, a tabula rasa. Which is why being completely empty can be filled with what we know to be true through experience (History in the Making). The Enlightenment focused on the role of religion and divine right. This helped colonial America see that it was okay to challenge the King and divine rights. The role of God was challenged in this movement and allowed people to see that they were important. Also allowing people to realize they had the ability to shape their own lives. The movement resulted in new interests in literature, schooling and science. Newspapers and book publications increased and schools became synonymous with new towns and villages due to the enlightenment. Something interesting about the Enlightenment is that it was centered on the scientific method. It was also an absolute development in the knowledge and application of power that changed nature and the natural world to what it is known today (Russell J. Stevens). The great awakening was a series of revivals in the first half of the 18th century. One outcome of the Great Awakening was the building of new churches to accommodate new members. This questioning of the church leadership is what led to the questioning of other leaders. There was also religious conflict. One being the â€Å"old lights† versus the â€Å"new lights†. The old lights opposed the new worship style. While the new lights are in favor of this new style of preaching. John Locke once stated, â€Å"The Bible is one of the greatest blessings bestowed by God on the children of men. It has God for its author; salvation for its end, and truth without any mixture for its matter. It is all pure. † The Great Awakening was responsible for bringing about the acceptance of religious tolerance. Also, it made more churches rise, prepared Americans for the civil war, and helped shape the Americas. That is the most interesting thing about the Great Awakening to me. The fact that this movement helped shape the Americas is surprising. It focused on the emotional satisfaction of German pietists and stagnation in New England. Reassurance, direction and religious purpose was fulfilled by this movement. Christian faith and life united the people. This movement ended up reducing the relevance of clergy as believers and started to depend on their own conclusions. So that it is not because God is unmindful of their wickedness, and don’t resent it, that he don’t let loose his hand and cut them off. Heathcliff seems not to have controlled the excessive emotion but to have expelled it after the long seclusion. The last part of Heathcliffs’ seclusion is when he dies and he is buried. Comparing the death scene of Mr. Earnshaw to that of Heathcliff, there is seclusion in the latter. While Mr. Earnshaw was surrounded by the children and workers, Heathcliff dies in an image where he still appears alive. He smiles exposing his teeth and lifts his hand as if resting (Bronte E. 536). The scene scares Ellen. The seclusion through death is necessary to release his image as a ghost that haunts the streets. He joins Catherin’s ghost to haunt the streets. Farmland Conservation essays There are many techniques used that are proven to conserve and improve farmland soil. The main reason for Southeast Asia's successful rice paddies is due to the countries strong focus on farmland conservation. If the United States were to follow suit, they too would have the same long-lasting, rich soil that Southeast Asia is still thankful for to this day. The reason for the Southeasts immense success can be explained through many of their ancient techniques but the most productive of which is the long used system of terracing. Which can be dated back to being in use for nearly more then a thousand years. What terracing involves is shaping of the land to create level shelves of earth which is proven to be useful for holding in the water and soil of a region. This method is usually used only in steep areas were no other form of agriculture can be made possible. Also, the perimeter of the terranced land is outlined by special plants set specifically to hold in place the grounds soil. With the roots of these plants set firmly into the earth it can make it much more difficult to find any place for soil to escape. During times of heavy erosion these plants can hold their ground and sustain the valuable nutrients available within the soil. Without this helpful technique the soil could easily be lost through wind or water erosion (The Agriculture With these two methods of soil conservation in place, there is already a strong system for maintaining the necessary materials for crop growth. However even with terracing in use much of the soil would still be lost over time.
